Easy Mixed Media Wine Charms!

Good morning everyone :) This bonus project I created combines two of my favorite things: mixed media art and wine! These wineglass charms are so easy and fun to create. They also make great gifts (Mother's Day is just around the corner!) Let's get started.

To begin, I selected several of the Tim Holtz Fragments from the kit to work with. I covered this first one with some matte medium and the Alumidust powder. I swirled it around in the medium, adding in some of the gold ink from the kit. I used the end of a paintbrush to create the swirl texture, then set it aside to dry. I also added a word and a piece of scrap paper from my collage drawer.

I continued in this manner, using different bits of collage pieces from my stash and from previous kits (love that tissue paper from an older kit!)

When these were dry, I did some light stamping just to add some texture to the background and create a distressed look. The stamp I used had sheet music. Be sure to use StayZ On type ink if you do this. You don't want it to smear everywhere when you move on to the next step. I also went around the edges with some more of the gold ink from the kit.
Next, I mixed up a batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and added some Alumilite Metallic Gold powder. Then, using an old small brush, I very lightly coated each piece with the resin. The gold powder gave each piece a really cool aged look and made them all look like a set, even though I used different collage elements for each one. Make sure when you are working with the resin to work on top of a white plastic garbage bag. The resin won't stick to it, so if you over pour or spill a little it won't stick. Plus it makes for easy clean up! I use a paper plate under my trash bag so I can move my project around if I need to.

After allowing the pieces overnight, they were ready for the finishing touches. I found these wire stemware hoops at Hobby Lobby. They were pretty cheap. I also had some larger beads leftover from my Titanic Inspired Tin project. I'm not sure what I was thinking at first, but I just put the beads and the fragments right onto the stemware hoop. Then I realized that the fragment wouldn't lay flat (duh) so I went back and attached a jump ring to the fragment, then attached the fragment to the hoop. It worked perfect and now lays completely flat. Of course this was done after I had already taken my final pics so you won't see the jump rings in the pictures below.

Enjoy life twenty four seven

Hello there! Sanna here again with a wall art altered project I made using the April Main Kit and the Add-On Kit. This project is also part of my monthly "simply stencils" series. Hope you like it!

 

I started by cutting images from the ARTchix Ephemera Sheet (June 2013 Mixed Media Kit). I chose images and colours that would match the blue tissue paper.

 

I created this art project on a piece of really thick grey cardboard and before gluing anything I gessoed the background and the clipboards. 

 

Next I took the blue piece of dekopatch tissue that was in the Mixed Media Kit and adhered it onto the background with a decopatch glue. 

 

After that I took some tissue tape (from the March Add-On Kit) and adhered it onto the background pretty randomly. 

 

Then I chose two rubber stamps (handwriting and a swirl stamp) and stamped a pattern with the blue and red Staz-On Midi Ink Pad here and there on the background.

 

After that I adhered the ephemera sheets on the clipboard pieces and directly onto the background. I used a decoupage glue from Marabu for this purpose.

 

White the clipboard pieces were drying I place the background piece into a cardboard box and added some IZINK gold here and there. After applying the ink I sprayed the areas with water mist. This way the ink spreaded and ran across the background. I really like this effect and the gold shimmers beautifully!

 

After finishing and drying the layout of golden droplets I also applied some Liquitex Titanium White Ink onto the background using the same technique. I just love the milky look it created onto the surface.  

 

Now it was time for the background to dry, so I went over and mixed some glitter paste with Alumidust Powder (red plum). 

 

Then I applied the paste thru a stencil onto the clipboard pieces for more structure and detail. These now needed to dry properly.

 

Finally I also added some random black ink splatters to the background. I used a black Glimmer Glaze for this purpose. 

 

 Then I went along and adhered the clipboards onto the background and started decorating the artwork.

 

 I had previously made some resin pieces (see the silver Alumilite powder on the bottom of the molds for metallic effects!) from both Amazing Clear Cast and Amazing Casting Resin and I had also added some golden or silvery shine to the pieces. They were nice additional details for the "canvas". 

 

The chipboard piece (bird) is treated with IZINK gold before adhering it to the clipboard.

  

 The "metal" key is a resin piece I created from with the molds. I first made a bluish clear resin (toned with the Alumilite Blue Dye colour) and before pouring it into the mold, wiped some Alumilite Metallic Powder Silver onto them. As an end result I got this gorgeous key.

Mini Clipboard Keyring

Hello artful friends, today I am up with a project highlighting both our April Frog Dog Kit and Amazing Crafting Product Clear Cast Resin part of our April Add on Kit.

I can be a bit forgetful, especially when it comes to dates and times, so...when I opened the April Kit and saw the mini clipboards...a little message pad that would fit on my giant key ring came to mind.

Um, I confess, I misplace my keys sometimes  a lot...this is why I keep my keys on a BIG ring with a giant heart...to help me find my keys when they hide from me.

The small clipboard was just the right size to add to my ring, and will be a handy message reminder...it even holds a little pencil, in case I want to leave someone a note:)

I placed the stencil on top of the mini clipboard piece and used embossing liquid over it.

Next, I sprinkled the Alumidust powder over the top, tapped off the excess...

and used my heat gun to set.

I decided to try "mixing" the StazOn inks, by first pressing my stamp into the 

Claret and then in the Blue Hawaii, and it came out a beautiful deep burgundy:)

I made a little message pad, and tied in this cute bee stamp with the words..."Bee Reminded"

Using a black Gelato, I added color to the edges of the clipboard.

Finally, I mixed equal parts A & B of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin (about 1/2 a TBS. each)

to cover and seal the front...giving the clipboard a hard protective surface.

Pour the two parts together, and then allow the air bubbles to rise, slowly stir until combined (no more visible "swirls") and then carefully pour over the surface.  I used one of the popsicle sticks included to "encourage" the resin to spread to the edges.  

Allow it to dry overnight.

Jewellery with Amazing Mold Putty and Clear Cast Resin

Hello there, Sanna here today. When I saw the April add-on kit, I immediately knew that I would love to make my own jewellery with it. Here are some of the projects I made using the Amazing Mold Putty and the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. On some of these projects I have also used various products from previous kits and/or from the April main kit.

For this neclace I first created some simple round molds - I made those in two sizes, one for a neclace and one for a ring. I however didn´t have the ring base ready at home, so I will have to wait until I get on to make a matching ring for the neclace. Here is a close-up of the jewellery.

Here are some of the molds I created. I was thinking I´d rather make a couple at once, so I used all kinds of objects I had in my stash to create these.

I first mixed an equal amount of the white and yellow Amazing Mold Putty together and then pressed it over the objects, let the molds dry properly and then went over to the next step.

When the molds were ready to be used, I first mixed some Amazing Clear Cast together with the red plum Alumidust Powder. I then poured some of the fluid into the molds, placed some Mica Fragments into the molds and then poured them full with the reddish fluid. I let them dry properly before removing the finished resin pieces from the molds (over night). After that I just glued the round piece on it´s place and the neclace was ready to be worn.

For my next jewellery pieces I used some of the Mixed Media Bezels that are available at the shop. I started with the neclace and then made a matching bracelet.

I first cut a piece of patterned paper and glued it on the bottom of the Bezel. Next I applied tiny drops of the gold IZINK onto the paper. 

After that I mixed the clear resin and poured a little into the Bezel.

Then I applied some Mica Fragments and tiny pealrs over the clear resin and after that poured the Bezel full with the resin fluid until to the top. I left the piece dry properly over night and started making the bracelet.

The bracelet is made exactly the same way like the neclace piece. I really like the effect the Mica Fragments create. When sun hits them they really stand out. Here are the finished pieces:

Then I also altered an older piece of jewellery as I had enough clear resin mixed together and didn´t want to waste any. This one was very easy to make.

 I just punched a circle out of a patterned paper piece and glued it down onto it´s place and covered the paper with Amazing Clear Cast. Then I just let all the pieces dry and they were ready to be used. 

I also created a couple of "loose" Bezels which I might use on some other projects later or create some custom made jewellery out of them in the future. 

For these two I mixed some Amazing Clear Cast Resin together with the Pealized Alumilite Powder and then added some Alumilite Blue and Red Dye into the mixture. I then poured the coloured mixtures into the Bezels and added some Colour and Mica Fragments on top for additional detail.  This is how they look like when they were all done.

Well that was pretty much jewellery for one post, wasn´t it. I must add that I am not a very talented jewellery maker, so I kept my projects pretty simple. But as you can see, you can still create some really nice pieces, even though you would be doing it for the very first time - like I did here :). 

 

I hope this post has you inspired to try out these products. They are really easy to use and the whole process of creating can get quite addictive :). I very much enjoyed making my own jewellery pieces with these products!
