Tina here today with the first DT share with the August Kit! The August Kit is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! I love the serene, peaceful blues and the timeless designs and patterns. Before I share my first tutorial of the month, here's another peek at the August Kit!
The August has so many possibilities! The obvious starting point is ATC Heaven! I love creating ATC's. New to ATC's? ATC's are Artist Trading Cards. They are generally traded and shared with other artists so you can touch and feel other Artist's techniques and style. How cool is that? I especially love the little size. They are each a little mini canvas that is just waiting for your attention and detail!
The August Kit comes with 5 ECO blank ATC's. These cards are from ArtChix Studio and I simply adore them. You can also use the ECO blanks that are in the 'packaging' with the whales and anchors, so you are really getting 7 blank ATC's to create with.
I've split my video tutorial into 2 parts. I spent an entire day creating ATC's and really didn't want to stop! But that's enough talking, let's get right to the video's.
Part One of my ATC video tutorial shows how I created this ATC. This is probably my most favorite of ATC created with the August Kit.
I love the sparkle, glitter, and whimsical feel of this ATC. It just makes me smile.
And the video.....
Part Two of my ATC tutorial shows you how to use a face as a template for painting and creating your own.
I used one of the ATC sized squares from the ARTChix Studio ephemera sheet as my template to create this.
I used the shape of the head and body as a template to paint my own, unique girl. Here's how I did it!
How easy was that? I can't really sketch or draw, but this technique makes an artist out of me. :)
In addition to these 2 ATC's, I created 2 more. I had so much fun making these little works of art, and once I started, it was really hard to stop.
For this card, I covered it with Black gesso, then embossed the card with white embossing powder. I 'dotted' in the tiny squares and around the outside edge before adding my whale and sentiment. Really quick and so much fun.
For this card, I also covered it with black gesso before stenciling stars with the Glitter paste included int the kit. Once the paste was dry, I sprayed a black and a white spray mist to create a purple-y color to the background. I colored my moon with a Big Brush pen, added stars and a sentiment and it was done.
I really, really like how all of my cards turned out! I can't wait to see what ATC you create. Please share them on our Facebook page.
That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed my tutorials! Thanks for stopping by!
