Jewellery with Amazing Mold Putty and Clear Cast Resin

Hello there, Sanna here today. When I saw the April add-on kit, I immediately knew that I would love to make my own jewellery with it. Here are some of the projects I made using the Amazing Mold Putty and the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. On some of these projects I have also used various products from previous kits and/or from the April main kit.

For this neclace I first created some simple round molds - I made those in two sizes, one for a neclace and one for a ring. I however didn´t have the ring base ready at home, so I will have to wait until I get on to make a matching ring for the neclace. Here is a close-up of the jewellery.

Here are some of the molds I created. I was thinking I´d rather make a couple at once, so I used all kinds of objects I had in my stash to create these.

I first mixed an equal amount of the white and yellow Amazing Mold Putty together and then pressed it over the objects, let the molds dry properly and then went over to the next step.

When the molds were ready to be used, I first mixed some Amazing Clear Cast together with the red plum Alumidust Powder. I then poured some of the fluid into the molds, placed some Mica Fragments into the molds and then poured them full with the reddish fluid. I let them dry properly before removing the finished resin pieces from the molds (over night). After that I just glued the round piece on it´s place and the neclace was ready to be worn.

For my next jewellery pieces I used some of the Mixed Media Bezels that are available at the shop. I started with the neclace and then made a matching bracelet.

I first cut a piece of patterned paper and glued it on the bottom of the Bezel. Next I applied tiny drops of the gold IZINK onto the paper. 

After that I mixed the clear resin and poured a little into the Bezel.

Then I applied some Mica Fragments and tiny pealrs over the clear resin and after that poured the Bezel full with the resin fluid until to the top. I left the piece dry properly over night and started making the bracelet.

The bracelet is made exactly the same way like the neclace piece. I really like the effect the Mica Fragments create. When sun hits them they really stand out. Here are the finished pieces:

Then I also altered an older piece of jewellery as I had enough clear resin mixed together and didn´t want to waste any. This one was very easy to make.

 I just punched a circle out of a patterned paper piece and glued it down onto it´s place and covered the paper with Amazing Clear Cast. Then I just let all the pieces dry and they were ready to be used. 

I also created a couple of "loose" Bezels which I might use on some other projects later or create some custom made jewellery out of them in the future. 

For these two I mixed some Amazing Clear Cast Resin together with the Pealized Alumilite Powder and then added some Alumilite Blue and Red Dye into the mixture. I then poured the coloured mixtures into the Bezels and added some Colour and Mica Fragments on top for additional detail.  This is how they look like when they were all done.

Well that was pretty much jewellery for one post, wasn´t it. I must add that I am not a very talented jewellery maker, so I kept my projects pretty simple. But as you can see, you can still create some really nice pieces, even though you would be doing it for the very first time - like I did here :). 

 

I hope this post has you inspired to try out these products. They are really easy to use and the whole process of creating can get quite addictive :). I very much enjoyed making my own jewellery pieces with these products!

April Mixed Media Kit: Mixed Media Necklace | Self Reflections

Hello All! Wendy here to share up my mixed media necklace titled "Self Reflections", this month for Frog Dog Studio!  

Yes, it's totally wearable.  Hey, nothing like handmade jewelry to put a pep in your step, right? Ha!

I absolutely fell in LOVE with the April Mixed Media Kit because everything coordinated so well together (again this month as I now say this every month, ha!) in such beautiful harmony.  

 

Those tissue papers are just perfect for framing and to.die.for in rich colors of blue, silver, and reds. I was a fan of Staz-On before but with these colors, I'm now a bigger sucker/hoarder.  We have more colors in stock too in the Frog Dog Studio shop...

The April Add-On kit with Amazing Crafting Products is NO exception, definitely a must-have to finish off some rather rad art creations.  Definitely grab it up too!

Mixed Media Photo Necklace

This project it just the "tip of the iceberg" when it comes to using all of the wonderful products found in our April Kit.  The main element in this vintage inspired necklace are the  Tim Holtz Fragments (included in this month's kit) along with my grandaughter of course:)

I first decided which fragment would best fit the photo I wanted to use. Using the photo software I have called Aperture, I was able to print the size I needed... 1.25" X 2" I also used the Sepia effect for the color tint.

Along with the photo charm I wanted to add some word charms.

I used a collection of dictionary words purchased and downloaded from etsy

Once I found a few fragment sizes that worked well with the photo piece, I trimmed the dictionary words and adhered them to the fragments using glossy accents. (I had this from a former kit)

Thinly spread a bit of glossy accents onto the dictionary word, then gently press the fragment on top, allowing it some time to dry. (it doesn't take very long with a thin coat...15-20 min)

Once the fragment is adhered to the word page, and the glossy accent is dry, you can trim around the fragment with a pair of scissors.

I added an old book page to the back of each fragment, so that if it flips over while I'm wearing it, it will look finished on both sides.

I coated the backs with mod podge to keep them protected and sealed.

In the picture above, I wanted to show you the "bead cap" I added to the photo fragment 

to give it a bit more detail. (Vintaj brand) I used glossy accents again to attach.

You can see above, that I also added a few charms to each fragment.

To put it all together I used a piece of torn muslin and 2 different Vintaj chains.

For the muslin, I snipped an end of the muslin, about 1/4- 1/2 inch from the edge.

Next, I just pulled, ripping it all the way off.

Make sure you have a long enough piece to allow the charms to hang where you want them to fall on your chest with enough to tie the pieces together.

I wanted to incorporate a little more brown into the necklace so I added wooden beads 

I had in my "stash."

I spaced them out every few inches.

These are the chains used below.

                                                         

                          

To add the chain, I pulled the muslin through one jump ring, and then attached the finer gauged chain to that jump ring with another ring the same size.  

(placing the jump ring above the wooden bead holds it in place, keeping it from sliding)

I repeated this for both ends of the chain.

To add the heavier chain, I used a jump ring to attach it to the finer gauge chain, about 2 inches below the place where the smaller chain is attached to the muslin.  This created the look of 2 different lengths of chain even though they were both 24 inches long.  I wanted this necklace to hang quite low.

The last step was to attach each fragment piece and charm with a jump ring to the larger chain.

Valentine Mixed Media Necklace

Good morning! Melissa here, sharing with you my latest project using the February Frog Dog Studio kit.

After meeting Susan Lenart Kazmer at CHA last month and learning more about jewelry making and resin, I REALLY couldn't wait to get home and give it all a try. I started the piece by cutting down a piece of the clip art from the kit to fit into my bezel. Then, I glued it into the bezel using the medium. I added a sticker word "Love" to the top of the picture and covered the top of the paper to seal it and prevent it from yellowing later on.

When that dried, I used some clear resin from Amazing Crafting Products to fill in the bezel. I let it sit overnight on a level surface to set up.

I really love the little "Love" themed dominoes that came in the kit and thought they would be perfect to go onto the necklace. I added a jump ring to each and attached them to the chain. I made a second filled bezel using Shattered Inclusions and the clear resin again from ACP.

To finish the piece, I just attached all of the elements with jump rings and threaded a red ribbon through the chain and tied a few sheer bits of pink ribbon. Ready to wear just in time for Valentine's Day!!
