Hello and Happy Tuesday! Tina here today to kick off the April Design Team project tutorials!
In case you haven't had a chance to see the April Kit(s), here they are again!
This entire month, we are teaming up with the Amazing Crafting Products team to bring 30 days of project inspiration.
To kick us off, I will be sharing how I created this Art Doll, from Paper Whimsy, using Alumidust powder and Metallic powder to color my project.
To prep my surface, I cover each chipboard piece with Spray Gesso and let dry. Spray Gesso is super quick, and super easy for covering these intricate pieces.
Using a piece of the Peacock tissue paper from Decopatch, I covered the bodice of the doll, crinkling the tissue as I applied it to the chipboard.
To prepare my wings, I applied a thick coat of Multi Medium and liberally applied the Mica flakes. Once the first layer was dry, I applied another layer of Multi Medium and another layer of Mica flakes. Let dry.
I then covered the house chipboard section with a thin layer of Silver Metallic powder.
SPECIAL NOTE: The metallic powder is VERY powder-y. Be prepared to have metallic flakes everywhere in your work area. :)
To 'set' the powder, I spritzed it with Hairspray and let it dry.
To 'color' each cooresponding piece, I applied Staz On ink first, then using a stipple brush, I dabbed Alumidust and Metallic powder to each piece. I 'set' it with water and let the color pool in areas. For a final set, I sprayed each piece with hairspray. Continue this with each piece till complete.
For more glitz and shine, I mixed up my own Gold Shimmer spray, by mixing a couple of dropper fulls of the iZink pigment ink to a Mini Mister and adding water.
Spray each piece.
To create my 'stained glass' window for my house, I applied the Gold iZink to a Tim Holtz Fragment piece and adhered it to the back of the house.
Once each piece is colored and dry, assemble her together. I really love how the Alumidust looks on chipboard. It really creates a great shimmer and sparkle to my project.
I hope you enjoyed my Art Doll. Thank you for stopping by! Have a fantastic week!
This is so crazy good!!!! I love her Tina!
